Luma 3D capture is a 3D scanning tool which is used to capture real-world objects or environments and create a digital 3D model of them.

Luma is similarly used for creating 3D models for use in games, movies, or other 3D applications and as a developer, a designer or even business owner this will come in handy as you can easily create your models with your smart device and import to SwiftXR.

Prerequisites:

  1. A Smartphone: Luma 3D capture is both supported by both Android and IOS devices

  2. The Luma lab 3D capture app

  3. SwiftXR account

The Luma 3D Capture:

Download the Luma capture app and launch it. Sign up with your email and create your unique username

Once you are In you will be shown the Luma capture Home Screen that looks like the image below

CREATING A 3D MODEL

Let’s see how to create a 3D model

  1. On the Luma app click on the plus sign below.

  1. Start to scan: Position your object on a flat surface then click on “start scan” to initiate the scanning process (Please note there needs to be even reflection of light on the image for easy scanning)

  1. Tap to place the bouncing box and ensure to enclose the object with the box

  1. Start to capture the object while you collect all the loops. To collect the loops, position your camera at a parallel line to the that of loop then move around your object.

  1. Export your model: Before exporting your model, ensure you name it first. The Luma app wil then upload your model.

  1. Drag and drop on SwiftXR
